Story
Thank you for your support
I’m running the Sydney Marathon in support of Cliona’s, a charity that provides vital financial support to families with seriously ill children.
This cause is deeply personal to me.
I was diagnosed with severe Crohn’s disease at 11 years old and had ostomy surgery at 19. I’ve lived through the reality of being a sick child, and I understand the emotional, physical, and financial strain it places on a family.
The financial burden starts with the first symptoms and the poverty trap of chronic illness can loom over every families head.
No family should have to face that burden alone.
For further information please visit www.clionas.ie but below is feedback received from a family supported
"With spending 7 months at present in hospital, 24/7 with our daughter it meant neither of us could work as she needed 24hr supervision.
We are not entitled to carers benefit etc as she has never been discharged from hospital
We were living on my maternity benefit which has stopped now & didn’t cover the mortgage, bills or her supportive needs.
We are so grateful & overwhelmed with your support
This is a light in a foggy dew for us to help steer our way into a clearer sunny place"
