The BSSH LION Hand Unit (Malawi) was successively launched on the 1st February 2023, which requires the continuous presence of a Consultant Hand Surgeon, a Surgical Trainee and a Hand Therapist at the LION Hospital for 5 years to treat the injured hands of patients including children in Malawi.

The vision of the BSSH LION Hand Surgery and Therapy Project is to use our resources to deliver maximum possible the benefit of patients in need of hand surgery (Trauma & Reconstruction) in Malawi through the development and co-ordination of sustainable educational and surgical training. Please do support us in any way you can to deliver this very worthwhile humanitarian project. This is the first Specialist Hand Unit in Malawi and will provide sustained benefit to thousands of patients in the future, enabling people to return, helping their families and improving their overall quality of life.
