Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge · 6 September 2023
We are taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peak challenge. This sees the 3 highest peaks in Yorkshire conquered by completing a 24 mile walk with 5,200 foot of ascent within 12 hours.
The Youth Hostel Association is a registered charity that aim to help all, especially young people of limited means, to develop a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside, and appreciation of the culture of towns and cities by providing affordable accommodation. They provide a lot of accommodation to schools and other groups and for many children their residential school trip is the only holiday they have.
There are an increasing number of schools that are not arranging school trips particularly those with overnight accommodation as they are seeing many families can’t afford the cost. This is especially heartbreaking when considering how affordable YHA is.
As a result we are raising funds for The Youth Hostel Association to fund overnight school trips for children that can’t afford to attend via their campaign “No Child left Behind”.
The number of children experiencing poverty is rising. And with the squeeze on school budgets and household purses, more school residential trips are being cancelled with whole classes missing out.
Missing out on long-awaited trips is detrimental to all children. But for children from low-income families, it could mean missing out on their only night away from home.
With your support we can help fund trips and deliver experiences that have the power to change young people’s futures.
