Canoe golf challenge · 30 June 2025

The foundation has been setup not to support Max but as a way for the trustees and Max to give back to the Angelman and wider community. To relieve the needs of those with Angelman syndrome and their families. To promote research into Angelman syndrome and rare genetic conditions.

Story

My brother and I are taking part in a (world-first!) charity challenge of completing 4 rounds of golf in a day and canoeing in between the golf courses!

Its a 4.30am start in a canoe on the River Mersey at Burnage, with the first tee-off time at 5.30am at The Withington GC. We play Withington twice, followed by Northenden and Chorlton-cum-Hardy courses.

72 holes

340 shots (at least!)

60,000 steps

No time for practice shots!

We are undertaking this challenge in support of the Max Ward Foundation.

Max is our nephew, and The Foundation has been set up for the trustees and Max to give back to the Angelman community. Angelman syndrome (AS) is a rare neuro-genetic disorder that occurs in one in 15,000 live births or 500,000 people worldwide.
