Story

My mum, Elizabeth, sadly passed away in February 2026 after living and suffering with Alzheimer's for 15 years - such a cruel disease and we all experienced the long goodbye.

Family, friends and people were always Mum's focus. She would be a big supporter of activities to raise much needed funds and support others who unfortunately will have to go through this.

So I'm taking part in the Trek26 North Yorkshire Moors 2026, a 26 mile trek on 25 July 2026.

At Alzheimer’s Society they’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.

Right now, there are over 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK, and one in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime.

Alongside myself on the 26 mile trek will be my brother, James, and a few friends - in addition to the 500+ who have already signed up to take part and support Alzheimer's Society.

My previous trips to Whitby have involved walking but between the many superb pubs in the town - so we're all looking forward to a slightly different, longer and more challenging walk for an amazing cause.

If you're able to make a donation it will be hugely appreciated - thank you very much for the support.
