About Positive East's work

____

Positive East is a registered charity and has been on the forefront of HIV service and care for over three decades; supporting people from point of HIV diagnosis to longer term care.

Guided by their mission - to improve the quality of life of individuals and communities affected by HIV – they have developed a holistic range of health and well-being programmes from counselling and workshops to HIV testing and prevention. All activities aim to increase well-being, self-esteem, community integration, confidence, medical adherence and optimism and make a direct and tangible impact in the lives of people living with HIV.

In total, they provide direct support to 3,000 people every year through service provision and HIV testing.

East London has a much higher rate of HIV diagnoses than the national average yet the HIV and sexual health sector is experiencing severe funding cuts every single year. Positive East is now relying more than ever on the generosity of the local community to support their vital work.
