Story
I am running the Oxford Town & Gown 10k on 11th May in aid of Asylum Welcome and Oxford Phoenix FC. Having volunteered at Asylum Welcome last year, it is a charity very dear to me. Asylum Welcome's youth football group, Oxford Phoenix FC, is a really incredible programme, allowing young asylum seekers and refugees to integrate into the community through the power of football.
The club gives these young people an outlet to help with their mental and physical health, relieve stress, and meet others in the community, all through the power of football. I have come to know many of the young people who rely on Asylum Welcome, its staff and its many services. I know how much they look forward to playing football each week, providing a break from adjusting to life in the UK.
But it is currently being threatened by a lack of funding. Any donations will go towards providing the money to allow the club to continue, and would be greatly appreciated.
