Kielder Marathon · 8 October 2023

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for visiting my page.

On the 17th August 2010 my dad - Terry Nixon - passed away as a result of heart failure. On the 7th & 8th of May the following year, myself, my family, and our close friends organised the "Trek for Terry", a walk for most and a cycle for some, around Kielder Water in memory of him. The support we received was staggering, 50 of us took part and raised £9990 for the British Heart Foundation. This remains a very proud achievement of mine; however there was always a tinge of incompleteness, and it has since been an ambition of mine to run this marathon. The intention was to do it in 2020 on the 10th anniversary of my dad's passing, unfortunately Covid got in the way.

On the 8th October this year I'll be running the Kielder Marathon with one of my oldest friends, Chris, and once again I'll be donning my now vintage "Trek for Terry" t-shirt, in order to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

I think it needs no explanation as to the importance of this cause, or why it resonates so strongly with me, if you are able and chose to donate, you have my heartfelt thanks (pun intended).
