Story
This year I was lucky enough to secure a place in the London marathon ballot, most people who know me associate me with being a half decent cyclist. However, running is definitely not one of my biggest strengths and will certainly offer a new challenge.
It has always been an aim of mine to run a marathon and to complete London will be extra special, for the past 9 years I have entered the ballot but I have had little success. For many years I believed that running a marathon would be out of reach due to being diagnosed with CRPS during adolescence and then tearing my meniscus more recently.
As part of running the marathon, I decided I’d like to raise some money for a local charity. I have chosen to run for the East Anglian Children’s Hospice (EACH). They are an amazing charity who support families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. Each year they need to raise £6.7 million from charity to allow them to continue providing the wide range of services within their hospices and throughout east Anglia. It will definitely help me knowing that every stride I take will make a difference to the lives of those who need it most.
In the build up to London, I will also be completing Cambridge half marathon and Hillingdon 20. Training is currently going well and my longest run so far has been 10 miles.
