Story
As many of you will know, Jenks and I had our first baby in November last year, Libby. Towards the end of the pregnancy we were told there was a high chance Libby had Down syndrome, this diagnosis was confirmed after birth.
Not knowing much about Down syndrome we have been given lots of resources and support from charities and other families. Libby is still very young so it is not clear exactly what we can expect in terms of mobility and general milestones, but we do know Libby does have a disability and requires additional support now and in the future.
Sparkles is a Buckinghamshire based charity who can provide extra support for Libby such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language sessions as well as support for parents and networking events to allow us to meet other families in similar positions. Already Libby is benefiting from their amazing work.
These great therapies are only possible through donations and fundraising, so we are putting on our running shoes and taking part in this 10k! I hung my running shoes up the day after the marathon in 2017 and Jenks is putting his on for the first time - wish us luck!
Thank you so much for the support, it means the world to me, Jenks & Libby.
