Weldmar Hospicecare needs to raise £26,000 a day to continue the specialist end of life care we provide in Dorset, both in the comfort of patient's own homes and at our IPU in Dorchester. 20% of our costs are met by the NHS, the rest comes from the generosity of our local community.

Story

Dear Family, Friends & Network,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have foolishly decided to join Ross Clayton and Jake Gallagher in running my first Ultra marathon early this summer.

A nice flat, road one I’m assuming…I hear you say? Of course not, the Jurassic Coast 58k from Corfe Castle to Weymouth on 18th May.

Those that know me well, will know I’m happy to dig in and trundle on but gravity isn’t my friend, so this challenge will be a steep one (pardon the pun).

To bring some good out of the likely pain I will endure, I’ve decided to run it in memory of a dear friend lost far too young, Julian Quick, and to raise money for Weldmar Hospicecare, a wonderful charity that cared for Jules during his brave battle with cancer.

Given I get married this year and have been reflecting on those who sadly will not be with us, combined with the poignancy of the race finishing in Weymouth, a town Jules was so ingrained with, whether it was running pedalos down the beach, carving up a night out in fancy D or captaining the towns Rugby 1st XV. It’s for these reasons I ask you all dig deep and give what you can for this great charity.

Will share a few training updates between now and Mid May (lots of work to do).

Thanks All,

Jordan x
