Hello and thank you for visiting my Just Giving Page!

2024 brings another endurance challenge as I will be attempting to complete the London Marathon and raise funds and awareness for the Jac Lewis Foundation, running 26.2 miles around the Big Smoke in the Green, Black and White of the JLF!

Having successfully completed the 2020 Virtual London Marathon and the first ever October London Marathon in 2021, I hopefully will be in a select group of athletes who have completed the marathon in Spring and Autumn with the race now returning to its traditional time slot in April.

The JLF aims provide a preventative wellbeing and mental health service to the community of Ammanford and surrounding areas managed by professionally qualified counsellors and wellbeing advisors. Currently there are several ongoing projects such as the SA18 project, Bereavement through suicide, Swansea City Football Club Mental Health HUB and children’s art therapy (a full list can be seen on their website https://jaclewisfoundation.co.uk/ ).

The foundation has made a massive difference to the area and continues to do. The number of individuals it has helped from young to old and families is staggering and emphasises the importance – and need – for such services in our community. Your donations will help make a difference! To see just part of the foundation’s work, click on the link to watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qI2qw0UHQ6Q .

A full history of the foundation can be found on their website. However, on a personal level I grew up with Jac attending Ysgol Saron School and playing football together for Saron Juniors FC from mini through to junior football. Whilst Jac may have had boots a lot more colourful than me and slightly edgier hairstyles, the one thing we did share on the pitch was the right side of the field with me being right back and him right wing! Later on in life, skiing was a common topic of conversation with us both enjoying the slopes and freedom that the mountains could give, which ensured we both finished the conversation with a smile on our face!

As I said earlier, this will be the third time I have run the London Marathon – and marathon no6 in total – having raised over £3000 for Cancer Research UK. Back in 2020-21 I earned a charity place with CRUK. This time, I have secured a slot via the ballot and have chosen to raise funds for a local cause that is making a tremendous difference in the Amman Valley and wider area.

I will attempt to update this page on a regular basis keeping everyone informed of my training and fundraising progress!

For now, thank you for taking the time to visit my just giving page for the JLF and either see you on the road running or on the track sprinting!

Diolch yn fawr unwaith eto!
