Those who know me know that I love a constant challenge. The London Marathon has been in my sights for many years. Securing a place in this marathon is amazing, but what is even better is raising money for an incredible charity.

I have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of cancer and how it can completely turn a person's life upside down. My cousin, Lynsey, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 15. Fortunately, the chemotherapy worked, and she is now happily married to Dean, with a beautiful little girl named Lilah.

Sadly, my good friend, who was also my tutor throughout my education, lost his life to cancer. He would be overjoyed to see me raising money for children who are suffering from cancer, as they have their entire lives ahead of them. He kept his illness a secret from me to not distract me from finishing my work. He was the most devoted, kind, and selfless man I knew.

As I run, I will be thinking of Lynsey's recovery and how the money I raise can help other children and teenagers like her. I dedicate this race to Paul Castle, who devoted his entire life to helping his students see their full potential.
