Story
On 7th September, Joe Gawthrop's family and friends will be taking on the Great North Run 🏃
There are nine of us taking part - some seasoned runners, and some of us total beginners!
We’ve been putting in the miles - often together - as we prepare for the big day and support each other through our huge loss.
Joe had a unique gift of leaving an impact on every one he met, lighting up every room he entered ✨
We’re running for Joe, and to raise awareness and funds for causes that have become deeply personal to us all.
Just last year in 2024, Joe ran the Manchester Marathon for his favourite charity, so we know he would approve.
Joe’s life was tragically cut short due to NORSE (New-Onset Refractory Status Epilepticus), a form of epilepsy, a rare and devastating neurological condition that can strike without warning.
Many people have never heard of NORSE or encephalitis. We’re running to raise funds for encephalitis research, and to raise awareness of NORSE, and the urgent need for better diagnosis and treatment.
Thank you for reading this - we appreciate the support, whether it’s keeping Joe’s memory alive, or donating whatever you can.
Every mile we run is for Joe.
Be more Joe 💖⚡
