Story
On Sunday 12th April 2026, 21 incredible runners will take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise funds for Little Roo Neonatal Fund at St Peter's Hospital.
On the 20th October my beautiful twins arrived into the world at only 24weeks, our first twin Nancy was born first at rushed straight to NICU only weighing 617grams then arrived our second twin little Nellie was born sadly she was born sleeping weighing just 282grams.
When Nancy arrived into the nicu it was a huge shock and we wasn’t really sure what to expect but for the first week of Nancy life she was thriving she was doing unbelievable well she wasn’t put onto high flow oxygen until after 24hours of being born she was drinking good amount of milk moving her arms and legs around we couldn’t believe how small she was. Unfortunately Nancy got very sick very quickly and things took a turn for the worse and sadly after 16days fighting for her life she died in our arms and left to go be with her sister.
Our NICU may have only been a short time but it was the hardest and darkest time of our lives it not only affected mine and fayths life’s but it affected all our family’s life’s everyone was affected by it all.
The neonatal team at St Peter’s hospital our truly some of the most amazing people the things they do for all the family’s that walk through that door is just incredible there was never a time where we felt we didn’t know what was going on or not included, right from the beginning of labour when we knew they would be arriving early they made sure we understood what was going on what would happen every single outcome the positive the negative every little detail they made sure we knew and comforted us and supported us where needed. For 16days the NICU become pretty much our home sitting by are daughters side everyday staying in rooms that without the little roo wouldn’t even be there prayer and hoping for the best out come possible but nothing can ever prepare you for anything everyday is a different day in there you see some of the most amazing things in there and some of the most terrifying.
They didn’t only care for our daughter they cared for us aswell never left us unknown, the teams knowledge, Skills, kindness & support is just unmatched and truly amazing and it will never ever go forgotten.
We owe so much to St Peter’s NICU & little roo trust every single person that work with our daughter every nurse doctor consultant on that floor without them without any of the equipment she would of not even had a chance of life so we are so very grateful she was given a chance they will forever have our support.
We wish every family with a baby in the nicu a speedy recovery and return home with there babies❤️
Rest in peace Nancy & Nellie forever in our hearts 🤍
Team Little Roo brings together:
- Dedicated staff who care for sick and premature babies on the neonatal unit, running for the tiny patients they care for.
- Families whose babies were cared for on the neonatal unit, together with their relatives and friends. Some are running in thanks, while others are running in memory of their beautiful babies.
Together, we are running 13.1 miles to give every baby the best possible start in life. Your generous donations will help provide life-saving equipment, care for families throughout their neonatal journey, and ongoing support for the amazing NICU team.
