Story
Why I am doing this….
On 26 November last year, my much loved brother in law 💙Pete💙 was unexpectedly rushed to Heartlands Hospital, where he stayed until 30 December. During that time 💙Pete💙 was put in to an induced coma to protect his vital organs and in attempt to aid his recovery. Going from resus to critical care, intensive care to Cardio care - the medical team at Heartlands saved our 💙Pete💙. As a family we will be forever grateful to the amazing Doctors & Nurses, what they did was nothing short of miraculous. They never gave up and neither did we.
This is a very small way to try to pay something back!
Despite being afraid of heights/falling from a height, I have somehow signed myself up for a Parachute Jump at Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield, Brackley, Northamptonshire, on 30 August, raising funds for University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, who support patients, families and NHS staff across four hospitals in the West Midlands - Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull.
Seems I will be securely attached to an experienced Tandem Instructor who takes charge of vital functions such as opening the parachute and landing safely. We will then fly between 10,000-15,000 feet and exit the aircraft. The free-fall will take around 30 - 45 seconds before the parachute is deployed. Here's hoping for a soft landing!
