Story
Update: Ride completed. Photos to be uploaded shortly. Well done Joseph.
Hello, I’m Joseph—8 years old, two wheels, one big heart.
Last month I pedalled 100 miles across Devon for St Luke’s Hospice. With your amazing support we smashed our target and proved that little legs can do huge things. Now I’m back in the saddle for Challenge #2 of my 12-ride, 12-month mission to help charities that lift up local families.
On Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August, Dad and I will cycle Dawlish → Exmouth → Dawlish (45 miles) along the Exe Estuary Trail—about seven hours of sea air, steep bits and sheer determination.
This ride is for Keep Me Close – NICU Plymouth, a fundraising appeal at Derriford Hospital. The money helps fund and maintain “home-from-home” accommodation beside the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, so mums and dads can stay close to their premature or critically ill babies during the hardest days of their lives. Right now, there are only a few rooms—far fewer than the number of families who need them.
I'm riding in honour of a neighbour who said such positive things about NICU and who really needed this service for her own little babies.
I’m riding for all the tiny fighters in incubators tonight. And I’m riding for the families who just need to be near their babies.
Please sponsor a mile (or more), and share this page.
Every pound helps keep a family together when it matters most.
Thank you from the bottom of my (fast-pedalling) heart 💙
— Joseph
