Story
Growing up, the YMCA played a huge role in my life. With two parents who worked full time, the YMCA became a second home for me—a safe, supportive space where I could learn, grow, and belong. Through the opportunities and guidance I received there, I developed not only as a strong student and athlete, but also as a confident, caring human being. The YMCA helped shape who I am today.
The YMCA exists to provide the essential building blocks for a full and rewarding life: a safe home; acceptance; guidance; friendship; physical and mental health; academic support; employment skills; and access to real opportunities.
Many young people have never known these things. Others may have had them at one point and lost them along the way. But the truth is, we all need these foundations—every single one of us.
The YMCA provides these critical building blocks for a fresh, strong start for young people and a better quality of life across the community.
The YMCA’s vision in England and Wales is to transform communities so that all young people can belong, contribute, and thrive.
