Story
I’ve been deeply impacted by the struggles my mother faced with her mental health. It was a challenging journey that brought our family to the brink, but thanks to the unwavering support of charities such as Mind, our mum found her way back to light and life.
I’ve always admired my mother's strength, and her battle with mental health only deepened my respect for her. I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact that organizations like Mind could have on individuals and families facing similar challenges. With a heart full of gratitude, I’ve decided to take action and give back in a way that would honor my mother's journey and support others on similar paths.
After many years of wanting to run a marathon, the London Marathon in particular has been top of the list. I’ve chosen to participate in the London marathon, not just as a personal challenge but as a fundraiser for the charity that had played a pivotal role in our family's life. The marathon would serve as a testament to my mother's resilience and an opportunity to raise awareness about mental health struggles.
As part of this marathon, I would also like to dedicate it to my dear friend James who unfortunately lost his life to mental health. James had been a beacon of laughter and kindness, yet his own inner battles remained hidden from many. His untimely passing left a void that could never truly be filled.
The marathon will symbolize the journey that individuals with mental health struggles undertake, and the funds raised will go toward supporting Mind's vital initiatives.
The London Marathon has always reminded me that by running together, supporting one another, and raising awareness, the stigma of mental health could be chipped away, and replaced by empathy, understanding, and a shared commitment to brighter tomorrows.
