Running for Psoriasis Awareness

Hi, I'm Josh.

I'm a school leader living in Essex, originally from Leeds and over the next nine months I'll be taking on a series of running events to raise money for the Psoriasis Association.

Like over 2 million people in the UK, I live with psoriasis.

To many, psoriasis is seen as "just a skin condition". The reality is very different. It's a lifelong autoimmune condition that can affect confidence, self-esteem and mental wellbeing just as much as it affects the skin. Sadly, there is still a huge amount of misunderstanding surrounding psoriasis, with many people believing it's contagious or not appreciating the daily challenges that come with living with it.

I've experienced those challenges myself.

There have been times when I've hidden my skin, felt self-conscious, worried about what others might think and even avoided family activities. If you've ever lived with psoriasis, you'll know it isn't just about what people can see—it's also about how it can make you feel.

I only started running in June 2026 as a personal challenge. At first, the goal was simply to get fitter and see if I could stick with it. Since then, I've entered a series of races to keep challenging myself while raising awareness of psoriasis and supporting the incredible work of the Psoriasis Association.

April will be dedicated to training as I prepare for what I hope will be my biggest running challenge yet.

Returning to the city where I was born to complete my first half marathon would be a fitting way to complete this challenge.

Every step I take is for everyone who has ever hidden their skin, avoided wearing shorts or a T-shirt because of psoriasis, cancelled plans because of a flare-up or felt judged because of a condition they cannot control.

I'm proud to be supporting the Psoriasis Association, whose work helps people living with psoriasis through research, education, support and campaigning to tackle the stigma surrounding this condition.

Whether you can spare £2, £5 or £10, or simply share this page with friends and family, every bit of support will help make a difference.

Thank you for your support. Every donation, every share and every word of encouragement will help me take another step on The Road to Leeds.
