Story

Hi! My name is Josh and I live in Japan and work with an organization called Mustard Seed Network.

In 2019, after joining Mustard Seed Network and beginning the fundraising process, I began to dream of where I would serve in Japan. Less than 1% of Japanese people believe in Jesus. Most people have never been to church and have never read the Bible. Mustard Seed Network has a goal to plant 12 churches in 12 cities throughout Japan.

As I was dreaming about where I would serve I was looking at a map of Japan and noticed the city of Sapporo in the northern part of Japan. This city stuck out to me and God began to put a burden on my heart for the people of Sapporo. A team is now preparing to plant a church in Sapporo and I am moving from Tokyo to join them. As I transition I have always wanted to ride my bike from Tokyo to Sapporo.

I am calling this ride “The Sapporo Send” and want to use this ride to share the need for the gospel message to be proclaimed in Japan and for more churches to be planted. We have a goal to raise $300,000 to cover the costs of planting a new church in Sapporo. About $200,000 has already been raised. As I ride to Sapporo I will be sharing about my journey on Instagram. You can also check out my rides on Strava as well. This is my biggest cycling trip ever and I am estimating it will take 10 days and be around 750 miles. Would you consider giving to the church plant in Sapporo? My journey starts on Tuesday, September 17.
