Story
PSC Support is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by the rare, autoimmune disease, primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). PSC has no cure or medical treatment.
Josh's wife, Maxine, was diagnosed with PSC at the age of 17. In her early 20s her disease progressed significantly and the only treatment option for her was a life-saving liver transplant.
Maxine was extremely lucky to have a successful liver transplant and has been able to live a full life since, including welcoming her's and Josh's first child. Despite this, liver transplantation isn't an easy thing to go through and requires life-long medication, monitoring and an increased risk of infections and certain cancers. It also isn't a cure for PSC as sadly the disease can reoccur. To put it simply, liver transplantation shouldn't be the only treatment option for people like Max. This is why we're taking part in the Great South Run! We want to help PSC Support continue their vital work in providing much-needed support and information to people affected by PSC and critically funding groundbreaking PSC research, taking us closer and closer to a cure. Donating to our page means you'll be helping achieve that too.
Thank you. #LetsBeatPSC
