Story
Motivation
Hi my name is Josh and in 2022, at 25, I was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma, a rare adult brain cancer.
This was completely unexpected. I went from a world where I was working out every day, clean eating and completing my PhD, to a world where I would not be alive in 3 months.
Overnight I lost coordination across the left side of my body, the ability to walk, normal eyesight and my confidence to live a limitless life. In 2026, I am climbing beyond cancer and reclaiming the power over my body and mind.
I want to inspire all impacted by cancer that there is hope beyond the diagnosis.
The Challenge
1. 162m climb up the Great Slab, Clogwyn Du’r Arddu (Cloggy) in Wales. This event will be my biggest physical and psychological challenge yet. It's a 3 hour walk to the start alone! All will be filmed for an upcoming documentary, "BEYOND", by Climbers Against Cancer.
2. Fitness progress photoshoot to celebrate how far I have come in my health since almost losing it all.
Months of preparation, dieting and lengthy workouts have built up to these moments.
In the lead-up to each event, I want to raise as much money for the cause that has transformed my life.
Climbers Against Cancer
Climbers Against Cancer is a charity that harnesses the spirit of the climbing community to fund cancer research and improve the lives of those facing a cancer diagnosis.
Its Climbing Beyond Cancer program provides both physical and psychological rehabilitation while creating a supportive community for those recovering from or living with a cancer diagnosis.
The program has not just taught me the basics of climbing, it has allowed me to trust myself again.
I can now push my body and my mind to do things I never thought possible since my diagnosis. Coordinating my eyesight, understanding my left side disability, strengthening my legs, and overcoming fear and anxiety.
Support My Journey
Anything you can donate is much appreciated! Big or Small!
Every penny goes directly to Climbers Against Cancer to help the next generation of those facing cancer.
I’ll be posting the footage from both events on completion!
Thank you for your support,
Lots of love,
Josh
