Story
For those that know Josh and I, will know that mental health is a cause that’s very close to us. Both having experienced our own struggles aswell as losing people close to us, we thought we would try do our bit to support the fantastic charity that is York Mind.
Obviously I am bias, as I currently work there, but what working there has given me, is the unique experience to try reframe my own mental health struggles into something that can benefit others. York mind works with people all across the spectrum and I have had the pleasure of working directly with young people to try improve how they and others access mental health support across the city.
Josh is joining me in tackling the great north run and he has been an advocate with many of his friends at Jorvik city in promoting men’s mental health and it is a pleasure for me to be running alongside him. However from how the training is going so far, it seems like he is enjoying the challenge more than I, so I will be probably trying to watch the back of his trainers at least for the first mile.
Anything that you can do to support us, we are unbelievably grateful for and will fuel us along our journey.
If you want to know a little bit more about my own story aswell as many others who have struggled and come to manage their mental health struggles you can listen to the podcast I do for the charity and the link below.
