I am on the Planning Team for Joel’s Bar, a Christian young adults conference that is close to my heart. My role consists of co-ordinating the small groups and training other leaders how to run the small group discussions.
What is Joel’s Bar?
Joel’s Bar is a Christian conference for young adults aged 18-28 and is part of CELEBRATE Trust, the charity that oversees and funds the Joel’s Bar conference.
Why is it called Joel’s Bar?
The conference is called “Joel’s Bar” because the conference’s founding Bible scripture is based on Joel 2:28-29 and like most (if not all) young Christian events, many social times and friendship building happens at the bar! 😂 Faith and friendship is in the name!
This year’s theme is:
Micah 7:7- "But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Saviour; My God will hear me".
Why I am fundraising for Joel’s Bar:
I have been attending Joel’s Bar every Easter since 2021 and it has had a deep impact on my Christian faith. Having had a dual Catholic and Anglican upbringing, I love how Joel’s Bar meets a perfect blend of vibrancy, community and fellowship (characteristics I loved seeing during my teenage years at HTB church), while anchoring itself in the tradition, liturgies and prayer routines that I have grown to love within Catholic environments. Joel’s Bar runs because of donations and grants and every donation counts! As Joel’s Bar has shaped my faith, I want everyone else to have the same opportunity as I have had.
