In 2015 our lives changed forever we were all excited for the arrival of my sisters first child unfortunately during the 20 week anomaly scan the sonographer found a heart defect the next few weeks were a blur for us all as a family as my sister and her partner tried to process the news they had been given about their baby. Everything was unknown and we were all worried about the babies arrival. Fast forward to 37 weeks pregnant my sister went into labour and gave birth to my special niece Alice! The first 24 hours were daunting but she was born a fighter! We always knew she would need open heart surgery and leeds would be the place that would happen. On the 15th March 2015 Alice underwent open heart surgery at lgi. It was a scary worrying time for us all as a family but especially for my sister and her partner this is when they first heard of children's heart surgery fund they provided accommodation for my sister and partner whilst Alice was in ICU. Once Alice was moved to the ward we realised exactly what chsf do for the heart warriors and their families! This amazing charity do amazing things on the ward making children's stay as comfortable as possible from maintaining the famous fish tank to paper and of course the honour of receiving a katie bear! Word can not describe how thankful we are as a family and will forever be in debt to all the leeds team! That's why this year Alice's 10 year heart-aversary I am going all out to try and raise as much money as I can for this amazing cause that really does have a huge impact on all the heart warriors and their families!
