London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 ·

The Deborah Ubee Trust is a charity offering free and nominal-cost mental health support for young people and adults in Greenwich, Lewisham and Bexley. We provide one-to-one psychotherapy, workshops and peer sessions and trainings, working to improve mental health and wellbeing across the community.

Story

TL,DR: The Deborah Ubee Trust are amazing. Chuck 'em some cash as I ruin my feet!

Thank you so much for clicking through to this! I (somehow) won a spot on the London Marathon via their ballot. The chances of that are 4.6%, apparently, which is about the same as winning any prize in the lottery. I think I'd have rather won the lottery. But then maybe I HAVE won the lottery, as I now get the chance to raise money for a fabulous charity (and learn how to run properly).

Tailored and high quality mental health services are something that should be available to everyone, but unfortunately the average price of therapy locks a majority of people out of wanting to get it. When I first moved to London and was living in my overdraft (soz to fam for not mentioning that before), I had recently been at an all-time low mentally, with all sorts going on triggering unprocessed grief from my Dad passing away a few years before. I was put off by therapy because of the costs, but my Aunt helped me find The Deborah Ubee Trust, who offer high quality therapy services to people of any income. It's no exaggeration to say that my time with DUT was a hugely important part of my early 20's, and I would love to repay them in some small way by running around London until my toenails fall off. "Love" might be over-egging it, but you catch my drift.

These people are awesome, and I completely agree with their message that therapy and mental health services should be for everyone.

Thank you so, SO, much for reading this far, if you did! As an aside, feel free to watch an extremely sweaty version of me jogging through the capital next April. Your presence will be felt.
