Running London Marathon for CARAS!

Josie Wade is raising money for CARAS

London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 ·

CARAS supports refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives in the UK, through practical, social and education initiatives. We empower our community members with the tools necessary to overcome existing barriers and feel part of a community.

Story

Lost a few marbles & signed up to London Marathon ahh! It’s less than a month away now & the long runs are getting looooong.

Any ££ you can spare for CARAS would be so appreciated & amazing motivation for all these KMs.

I’m part of CARAS’ volunteer casework team, each week we work with young people who are leaving care & dealing with the very hostile immigration & welfare systems in the UK. CARAS is a safe place each week for young people to hang out & have fun at youth club as well as get support with their immigration cases.

CARAS also do a ton of other important work - check out their website: https://caras.org.uk

“CARAS is dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming space where refugees and asylum seekers in South London can build confidence and access essential support services. For many, language barriers and unfamiliar systems make it difficult to navigate daily challenges. CARAS works to bridge these gaps, offering English lessons, social activities, workshops and 1:1 casework support to help each person feel empowered and informed. Our mission is to ensure, through a range of programs and personalised support, that no one faces the asylum system alone.”
