The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity who creates, protects and cares for woodland across the UK. We are working hard to create a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. But we can't do this alone. We can't achieve our vision without you.

Story

In memory of our colleague, Ross, who sadly passed away recently, we are raising funds for Woodland Trust. As well as being a pioneer in the field of security engineering, Ross had a passion for trees.

Ross' family have requested donations to a charity that works to protect our forests in lieu of flowers and individual cards.

Ross devoted his career to developing security engineering as a discipline. He was a pioneer of hardware tamper-resistance, API security, peer-to-peer systems, prepayment metering and powerline communications. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society and the Royal Academy of Engineering, as well as a winner of the Lovelace Medal – the UK's top award in computing.

We are fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Ross; he will be missed by his colleagues and his students at the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh.
