Our son Jan had a successful open heart surgery in March 2025, and soon we'll be celebrating one year of his heart working in a new way! He's 12 now and thriving at high school.

The surgery time, hospital stay and managing the time away from Dunfermline was challenging but we were surrounded with amazing people and also experienced a hospitality of Crossbasket House. It's a place just a few steps from Glasgow Children Hospital and provides parents with amazing place to stay, take shower, cook a meal. After many hospital stays with Jan we really appreciate each time we stayed at this kind of accomodation and after discussing it with Jan we would love to give back to the Glasgow Crossbasket House. Even though mum slept most nights on the chair in Intensive Care (that was also amazing to be able to be close to Jan when he was restless and didn't want us to leave) we greatly appreciate the cosy room that was available for us.

Crossbasket House gives families a place to stay while their child is seriously ill in hospital in Glasgow. Children come from all over Scotland and further afield to receive treatment at the children's hospital in Glasgow.
