Story

I am part of a dedicated group of four men who meet every Tuesday at Maggie’s Centre Oldham, a place that has become a lifeline for us all. Each of us has either faced or is still undergoing treatment for cancer.

Accompanying us will be Steve, who has been a long-time friend of Wayne. His presence reminds us of the power of friendship and support, even for those who haven’t faced the disease themselves. Coming together here has given us all strength, hope, and a sense of purpose.

We are raising £2,500 to support this incredible charity, which provides vital mental health support and a safe space for men to come together. Without this group, many of us would struggle to cope with the challenges life throws our way.

Maggie’s Centre is more than just a meeting place; it is a beacon of hope where we find strength in each other during our darkest storms. Here, we break the silence and stigma around men’s mental health and serious illness by talking openly and honestly. This openness is the first step towards healing and recovery, showing that vulnerability is not weakness but courage.

Inspired by Sir Chris Hoy, we are taking part in the Chris Hoy Bike Challenge on 6th September 2026 in Glasgow. This challenge is not just a test of endurance; it is our way of leaving a legacy, supporting people affected by cancer, and showing that life can continue with determination, friendship, and hope.

We urgently need your help to continue this essential work. Your donation will ensure that Maggie’s Centre can keep providing support to men who need it most. Please join us in making a difference—because when men talk, healing begins, and together, we can pedal towards hope
