Story
Hi everyone
Many of you will know me, and know that I enjoy running. I often get asked if I run for charity, and feel a little foolish when I respond with 'no'. So, I decided to try and put my effort into supporting the wonderful people over at RedDuck (more about their work below).
Now, never being one to 'do things by half', I thought I'd set out to do something challenging and difficult, as that's what you all want in return for your kind donations, right?
So, here it is: 34 marathons in 34 weeks, starting from September and finishing at the London Marathon on 24th April 2027. There'll also be some longer runs thrown in, to really make those donations worthwhile. If you want regular evidence of wet, cold mornings and tales of never-ending blisters and chafing, head over to https://www.instagram.com/jrruns
If you've already read this far, I hope you'll be happy to fill out the donation below. No amount is too small, and I genuinely welcome and appreciate anything you can give. A few quid, a pint, an amount per marathon, it all will be going to a great cause. Thanks!
Now for the important part: RedDuck, established in memory of Raffy Holliday.
"We aim to elevate the status of HHV6 in immunocompromised patients and change outdated protocols regarding testing and monitoring of this virus. It is the most commonly reactivated virus in a transplant setting and for T cell depleted individuals, it can be life threatening. We endeavour to implement this through our campaigning, both in person and online.
RedDuck also champions inclusivity and supports children and their families who have no choice but to live their lives within the confines of a hospital. We hope to bring alternative treatments to children in palliative care, raising funds for holistic treatments and sensory equipment that may bring comfort during the final stages of life."
