Abaana is a Christian based charity which invests in Children in Africa, helping them to break the chains of poverty, through education. There are 19,000 children who die in Africa each day from poverty and disease which is so easily preventable. Over the past 25 years, Abaana has been able to share the love of God in a very practical way with those who need it most. In the past 25 years Abaana has built 17 schools throughout Uganda and currently provides sponsorship for 1,600 children. The aim of Mullabrack and Kilcluney’s short-term mission trip in July 2025 is to visit Abaana’s Schools, New Life Homes and to help with the Street Children. We are a large team of around 30 people and hope to organise summer schemes in the schools, work with street kids, play sports, give lunch and offer medical care and spend time with children who were formerly living rough on the streets and are now being cared for. There are also plans to start a development project to build a toilet block or school kitchen or a nursery school classroom.

Story

Hi Everyone

I am exciting to share with you an incredible opportunity i have coming up this July (2025). I will be travelling to Uganda with my church Mullabrack and Kilcluney Parish Church, to support the amazing charity Abaana.

During this trip, I will be part of a team helping to build a 3 roomed nursery school in the village of Atukubui. I will also be working on other projects that are transforming lives.

Street Reach. This project provides support and hope to vulnerable young boys living on the streets of the capital of Kampala. We provide medical care, a hot meal and engage with them through games such as football.

Zuri Girls. This project supports young girls to help keep them in education. Sanitary items are a luxury and are far out of reach of these girls. Therefore the girls end up using dirty rags resulting in them missing many days of school and eventually leaving education. We aim to help by providing their own re-usable sanitary towels. We will also teach them how to make these re-usable pads themselves and hope to raise money for sewing machines.

We hope to show the love of God, transforming the lives of these children and their communities in Africa through building schools and creating a safe place for them to be educated.
