Story
George and I are honoured to be entering our fourth year as Co-Directors of the Gold Standard Charitable Trust. Though we are not runners, we want to show our personal commitment to the mission of the GSCT: we believe that there is no greater gift than the gift of a great education.
We are putting our feet where our values are by walking the route of the London Landmarks Half Marathon along with representatives from 10 of the schools whose bursary programmes we support. Last year, George did the walk and this year it is up to me. Follow this page for some notes on cultural landmarks along the way!
The Gold Standard Charitable Trust brings diversity and inclusiveness to 14 Inspired UK independent schools in and around London by providing full and large bursaries. Next school year we will be helping to support over 70 students.
GSCT bursaries are awarded to talented pupils whose economic circumstances would not otherwise allow them to access all the benefits of attending an independent school. Among the students we are supporting are survivors of the Grenfell tragedy, children in care, and refugees from war zones. Bursaries build stronger schools and a better society, where children from different backgrounds can grow up as schoolmates and friends. These bursaries can be life‑changing, helping individuals build confidence, skills, and futures that benefit not only them, but also their families and communities.
GSCT does not have an endowment so we work closely with school heads and parent leadership to raise the necessary funds each year.
We would be very grateful if you could help us meet our goal!
