Story
Mental health remains one of the greatest health issues affecting Northern Ireland, with significant challenges in accessing timely and appropriate support. Those on waiting lists can wait months, even years to actually get proper support. Mental health services are crucially underfunded, with charities being left to fill the gap between the demand for the services and the resources available. At Via Wings we pride ourselves on being a safe place where people can avail of counselling, play therapy and learn tools to support them as they work towards managing their mental health. We ran an extremely successful mental health programme for two years but unfortunately that funding came to an end, but we can not abandon the people who need this vital support. Staff and supporters are now taking matters into their own hands by embarking on the ultimate quest to put the kindness of the public to the test as well as highlighting how hard it can be to ask for help and sometimes get told, 'no'.
