Julia's Marathon Fundraiser for Edinburgh Leisure

Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2025 · 24 May 2025 ·
So, I was peer pressured at work into signing up for a charity place in the Edinburgh Marathon. And by peer pressured, someone said "Would you to be part of my relay team?" and I said, "That sounds great, but I already saw the email and because I always just click OK without reading the terms and conditions, I've already managed to sign myself up for the full marathon."
But Edinburgh Leisure is just cooncil gyms, in't it? How've you got a charity place? Well, Edinburgh Leisure is in fact a charitable trust that not only runs 53 sport, leisure and school venues, but is also home to the Active Communities programme.
Between its 160 health and wellbeing classes, free and discounted memberships, and army of volunteers, Active Communities each year supports around 12,500 people who face the greatest barriers to being active, including those affected by health conditions, disabilities, inequalities and poverty.
And so I'm going to haul myself around a little bit of Edinburgh, and a lot of East Lothian, to do my bit to fundraise for what I've learned over the past 18 months is a really great cause.
