Julia's fundraiser for Amyloidosis UK

Julia Belham-Payne is raising money for Amyloidosis UK
In memory of John Belham-Payne
We are a patient led charity dedicated to providing information and support for anyone affected by amyloidosis in the UK. We aim to bring the amyloidosis community together and advocate for improved care for amyloidosis patients in the UK.

Story

I am raising money in memory of my husband, John Belham-Payne, who died on 15 February 2016.

In later years, John experienced symptoms that strongly suggest he was living with amyloidosis, a serious and often under-diagnosed condition that can affect the heart, kidneys, and other vital organs. Like many people, John was never formally diagnosed during his lifetime.

Since his death, it has become increasingly clear that amyloidosis may run in his family. Out of respect for the family privacy, I won’t say more, but our experience has shown us just how life-changing this condition can be.

Amyloidosis is still widely misunderstood and frequently missed. Earlier diagnosis can make a profound difference to treatment options, quality of life, and outcomes.

In John’s memory, I want to help raise awareness and support the vital work of the charity Amyloidosis UK, who provide information, support, and advocacy for people and families affected by this condition.

If you are able to donate, you will be helping to fund support services, raise awareness, and improve understanding of a rare but devastating illness.

Thank you for reading, for sharing, and for helping honour John’s memory.
