The South East Rivers Trust has been identifying and mapping the chalk rivers and streams that qualify as priority habitat across its catchments. There are only about 200 chalk streams in the world – and 160 of them are in the UK, but it is acknowledged that many of the smaller streams have yet to be mapped.
