Me and my sister (Helen) are doing a minimum of five miles per day in May to raise funds for The Candlelighters Children’s Charity because we are supporting Helen’s 22 month old grandson Robin (my great nephew) and his lovely parents Rebecca (my niece) and Ricky her husband.

Robin was diagnosed in early April 2025 with leukaemia - everyone was totally shocked!

Within hours of Robin and his family being transferred to Leeds, the Candlelighters Charity arranged accommodation for Rebecca and Ricky to be within walking distance of the hospital as well as emotional and practical support for them

If you can contribute to this amazing cause we would be over the moon. But don’t worry if you can’t, there are still things you can do - share this post to highlight the work that Candlelighters do for children battling cancer and the support they can offer to their families

OR ………. the other thing you can do is …….. if you think something is not quite right with your child, grandchild, niece, nephew etc push push and push some more with your doctor to get them looked at and to take your concerns seriously. Robin had been taken backwards and forwards to doctors for SEVEN weeks before a desperate mum and grandma INSISTED an urgent blood test be carried out that day - a few hours later he was being rushed to Leeds General Infirmary to undergo treatment and blood transfusions.
