Story
On Sunday 12th April 2026, I will be taking on another huge challenge by running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for WAY - Widowed and Young, a charity that has been a massive support to me over the last 3.5 years since Simon passed away.
WAY is a peer to peer support group for anyone who has lost a partner under the age of 50. Knowing there are others in the same position as yourself who "get it", has been what has helped me personally move forward in this new chapter of my life whilst being able to speak about feelings, memories, having plenty of laughs and being apart of a club that everyone understands but no one wants to be a part of.
Being offered this place over Christmas, I decided I needed to make it more of a challenge and I have had a fair few of them over the last 3.5 years. Why not run 3 half marathons in less than a month with this one being the last of the 3!
So here goes...having completed Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon on the 15th March and Reading Half Marathon a week later on the 22nd March, I am now gearing up for Sunday and getting pretty excited to see what this brings. I will be running with 7 other WAY members who I haven't met before but it will be amazing tbe part of this small group, raising awareness and funds for such a worth while cause as no one should have to grieve on their own whilst trying to work, run a house as well as solo parent.
If you would like to see me lace up my trainers for one last run, then whatever donation you can make, howevery small, will make a huge difference for a very worth while cause.
Thank you in advance
Julia xx
