Story
A routine mammogram this year picked up an early breast cancer before I had any symptoms which is incredibly lucky but still a bit rubbish.
Following surgery, I am now embarking on chemotherapy to reduce the risk of cancer returning in the future. After half a century trying to tame my mane, I will lose my hair through treatment. I am planning to beat the chemo to it by shaving my head and hopefully raising some funds in the process for Heart of Headland Boxes which are described below.

I have no idea what colour my hair is (but expect it wont be blonde when I next see it!)
All about the boxes….
“The news that you have Cancer and will be embarking on chemo or immunotherapy can be devastating and overwhelming to our patients.
“We want to make those patients feel cared for beyond the medical treatment that they receive, and we hope that you will join us in our mission. Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity are working in partnership with Cancer Services at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust to launch a special project to provide Heart of Headland Boxes to patients receiving Chemo and Immunotherapy at our hospitals.
“The boxes will contain items such as a thermometer, pill pots to organise their medications, hand creams, cotton hats, relaxation products, ginger tea, sucking boiled sweets, using a soft toothbrush, keeping hydrated, using simple products, bringing items to the unit to keep them occupied.”
Thank you for supporting me and don’t forget to have your mammogram!
