Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.
I'm running the Royal Parks Half in the autumn to raise money for the wonderful Future Dreams charity.
Too many important women in my life have been impacted by breast cancer, including my beloved mum who died 31 years ago, as well as close friends and family members. I’ve seen first-hand the devastating impact that diagnosis and life-changing surgery can have on them, not least the need to make huge decisions about eg mastectomy's in a split moment without the benefit of psychological support. I’m thankful that treatment and life expectancy has improved greatly since my mum was afflicted, but it still feels like the long-term impact of invasive procedures and the horrors of physical change are not prioritised as they should be.
Future Dreams is raising funds to support women through their breast cancer journey.
FD works on a number of campaigns to create awareness and fund research projects, with a main focus on secondary breast cancer.
Over 50,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK every year, the equivalent of one person every 10 minutes according to Breast Cancer Care.
To date Future Dreams has raised over £5m pledging funds towards the charities three aims - support, awareness and research, focusing on secondary breast cancer.
So it will be my great pleasure to run for Future Dreams, and hopefully raise some much-needed dosh along the way!
Any small donation you can make will be hugely appreciated.
