Story
We are raising money for the charity "Re-engage", which is dedicated to making life less lonely for thousands of older people every year.
Older individuals share with us that our volunteer-led activities bring them joy and foster trust in others. Our groups are open to anyone aged 75 and older, providing a welcoming space for connection and companionship. Re-engage hosts monthly tea parties at various locations, ensuring accessibility and creating something for them to look forward to. These gatherings offer a chance to get out, mingle with others who share similar experiences, enjoy a slice of lemon drizzle cake, sip on a warm cuppa, engage in a game of chess, or even participate in chair Tai Chi.
Having attended one of these tea parties myself, I can personally attest to the uplifting atmosphere and the sense of community it fosters. I am excited to return!
In addition to these events, Re-engage also offers a call service known as "call companions" for those times when leaving home is challenging. This service allows older individuals the opportunity to speak with someone about their day or any topic they wish. It costs nothing to listen, and sometimes all it takes is a friendly ear to alleviate the loneliness that many in our older generation face.
To support this incredible cause, myself, Simon Lewis and Nathan Blease will be participating in a personal skydive on October 23rd, 2025. Our goal is to raise £1,500 to help fund these vital programs that bring joy and connection into the lives of older people. I invite you to join us in this mission—your support can make a significant difference in combating loneliness among our elders.
