Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Sebastian (my grandson) is now 18 months old and over the past year, has been admitted to the High Dependency Unit at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital five times with severe bronchiolitis. On each admission, he has required the highest level of respiratory support, in the form of a CPAP machine, and needed to stay in hospital for up to a week each time.
The team at QE have been absolutely exceptional, and they have helped to make the most awful experience as tolerable as it could be for our family. We cannot thank them enough for everything they have done for Seb and all they continue to do for all the other children who are admitted to QE.
The intake of children with respiratory issues is now higher than ever, and there just aren’t enough CPAP machines across the country. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the High Dependency Unit are in desperate need of funding for more machines. These are essential in providing breathing support to children with life-threatening respiratory issues.
I am riding the route of this year's Tour de France a week ahead of the actual race, over the same number of days - but perhaps a little slower! 2000 miles, 21 stages and 52,500m total elevation gain - that's going up Everest 6 times!!
Anything you can afford to give would be really appreciated and thank you so very much for your support.
