Story
WOW! What can I say other than THANK YOU all so much! This has really given Bella a boost and we cannot thank you enough. Please keep sharing and showing Bella how much she is loved by everyone 💕
Some of you may already know that Bella has a condition called Trichotillomania, which causes an overwhelming urge to pull out her own hair.
This first began around 4 years ago when we initially thought Bella had Alopecia. We later discovered that she had actually been pulling out her eyelashes and eyebrows herself. Bella also has Autism spectrum disorder and Post-traumatic stress disorder, and when she becomes overwhelmed, anxious or stressed, these behaviours can increase significantly.
Thankfully, Bella attends an incredible school who have been amazingly supportive of her needs.
In April this year, Bella had the most amazing opportunity to go on a school trip to China — something we still can’t quite believe ourselves! Although she was understandably anxious about being away for 8 days, she was also incredibly excited.
About a week before the trip, on 11th April 2026, Bella began pulling out the hair on her head. Despite having an unforgettable time in China, many of her struggles were hidden behind a brave face. Sadly, once the pulling started, she found it impossible to stop.
Fast forward to today, 15th May 2026, and Bella has lost most of the hair across the top of her head.
Last week I contacted The Little Princess Trust to ask whether there was any support available for Bella. By the very next day, they had replied and arranged an appointment for Bella to be fitted for a wig completely free of charge through their incredible charity.
Today, Bella made the unbelievably brave decision to shave off the rest of her hair to try and prevent further pulling. An incredibly difficult choice for anybody — let alone a beautiful 12-year-old girl with the most gorgeous long hair.
Bella would now love to donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust, and as a family we would love to raise some money for this amazing charity as a way of saying thank you for the kindness and support they have already shown her.
If anybody is able to donate, no matter how small, we would be truly grateful.
The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment and other conditions including alopecia and trichotillomania. The charity also helps fund vital childhood cancer research across the UK.
Thank you so much for reading Bella’s story and for supporting such an incredible charity ❤️
