Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and thank you in advance if you are able to make a donation to the Chartwell Children's Cancer Trust

Everyone should know that although i’ve always been very much in the “i’ll try anything just once” camp, it was mostly so my kids couldn’t call me a scaredy cat! Until now though, I’ve absolutely drawn the line at doing a skydive.

Call me crazy, but that’s about to change! I’m planning to face my fear and on 5/7/25, jump from 12000 feet above the Kent countryside, in the hope of raising money for the wonderful Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust.

As you may be aware, our very precious 7 year old grandson, George was diagnosed with B-cel acute lymphoblastic leukaemia on the 9th September 2024.

George has been undergoing relentless, harsh & invasive treatment since then & his old & carefree life has been swiped away from him whilst he battles this terrible disease.

As his Nanna it has been heartbreaking to see all he has suffered and not be able to “make him better” but George has shown us all the most amazing strength, courage and determination when he no doubt felt petrified at what he has had to endure. Completely inspired by George, it’s time now for me to take on the sky dive challenge and perhaps feel just some of the fear that he has experienced.

The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust is a local charity that aims to improve the lives of cancer and leukaemia patients and oncology communities by making a real difference to cancer care throughout South East London, Kent & surrounding areas.

They have given amazing support to George and our family since last September. From organising events for kids with cancer and their siblings, loaning George a robot that sits in his school classroom to relay his class lessons to his home laptop so he can stay connected & continue some education, to offering a break away “at the seaside” for him and his family. They do absolutely fantastic work and it would be wonderful to raise a spectacular sum so as they can continue to support other children and families like ours.

Thank you for any & all donations which will be gratefully received by me and put to very good use by the Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust.
