Help Little Bird Baby Bank Raise £12,000 in 12 Months

Help us keep supporting local families who need us.

Since Little Bird Baby Bank was founded in 2019, we have been helping local families with the essentials they need for their babies and children — providing practical support with dignity, kindness and hope.

We have grown from a small Baby Bank operating from a home and garage into a much larger community project supporting thousands of local families.

We have recently moved into new premises, which has given us much-needed space to grow. But with that growth comes a challenge.

Our overheads have more than tripled.

At the same time, the cost of running a charity continues to rise and grant funding is never guaranteed.

That’s why we are launching our biggest community fundraising challenge yet:

That’s £1,000 a month — or around £33 a day.

We want to raise this money ourselves, alongside continuing to apply for grants, so that Little Bird can build a more sustainable future and continue being here for local families.

🐦 WHAT DOES LITTLE BIRD DO?

Our Baby Bank provides families with essential items such as:

👶 Baby and children’s clothing

🧥 Coats and winter clothing

🍼 Baby equipment

🧷 Nappies and toiletries

🛏️ Bedding and toddler beds

🧸 Toys and books

🤰 Maternity items

🛒 Pushchairs and baby equipment

❤️ Baby hampers for mums-to-be

We also have a charity shop within our premises, where local families and members of the public can buy affordable preloved baby and children’s items.

Our shop isn’t just a shop.

Every purchase helps generate income that goes back into supporting local families.

❤️ BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP

Little Bird is powered by an incredible team of volunteers.

We currently have 13 volunteers who give their time to sorting donations, helping families, running the shop, fundraising and keeping everything going.

Only one person is currently paid — our founder and coordinator — and that is for just 16 hours a week at minimum wage.

The reality is that the role currently takes around 40–60 hours every week.

We are incredibly proud of what Little Bird has achieved, but we know that relying on one person working such long hours isn’t sustainable.

We want to build a future where Little Bird can continue to grow without depending entirely on whether we receive a grant.
