I have been privileged to be a member of the crew of the St Abbs Independent Lifeboat for the last 2 years. This service is run entirely by volunteers and relies solely on donations to keep it going. Since becoming independent it has become the heart and soul of this wonderful little village with everyone contributing to the running of this essential service in some way or another. I am running a 10km race on the 6th October, a distance slightly out of my comfort zone having had bilateral knee surgery years ago, and wanted to make the training and the run worthwhile by raising funds for this important cause whose sole aim is to save and protect lives at sea.
