National Three Peaks

The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, we’re moving further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour. A cure really can’t wait

Story

Last year we lost someone very special to us, Julie. She was many things - kind, witty, thoughtful, an absolute lush - but she also loved walking. Her and Barbara were out most weeks, sometimes with puppy Motzi, always with a packed lunch (usually consisting of a cream cake and a bottle of desperados). In the year before Julie passed away she had completed the Yorkshire three peaks, and she had planned with Barbara to complete Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, having already completed Snowdon. Unfortunately, Julie was taken from us far too soon by a grade four Glioblastoma: one of the most fast growing and aggressive brain tumours. Julie passed away just four months after her diagnosis.

This year, in memory of Julie and to raise money for the brain tumour charity, we have decided to walk the National Three Peaks. Data from the National Cancer Research Institute (2021) shows that brain tumour research still represents just 1% of the national spend on cancer - it is so underfunded and we want to try and change that. Because we understand that when you, or someone you love, is diagnosed with a brain tumour a cure really can't wait. Any donation you could make would be really appreciated.

Thank you,

Barbara, Alexis, Emma and Jade x
