According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, except for skin cancers. It accounts for about 30% (or 1 in 3) of all new female cancers each year. It has impacted far too many lives in our respective families. Did you know that at this time there are more than 4 million breast cancer survivors in the United States? This includes women still being treated and those who have completed treatment.
In early 2023, Julie was diagnosed with metastatic invasive ductal carcinoma. She discovered the cancer through a routine self-exam. She will tell you it sure puts life into perspective! It has certainly been a long, hard road with up days and some not so up ones, but thanks to the incredible care and compassionate support provided by her whole oncology team at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center, she has recently beat it! Dr. Shilpi Gupta, Julie’s medical oncologist, is even now considered a part of our family!
We hope that you will consider making a donation to the Foundation at Morristown Medical Center in support of the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center so they can continue their amazing work which helps turn women (and men too!) from fighters into survivors. The Foundation for Morristown Medical Center is 501(c)(3) charity for US tax purposes.
